WE MISSED CHANEL’s “Inside” series, right? It was about time they released the 4th piece (of how many, we don’t know) and this time it is simply called “The Jacket”. Karl Lagerfeld makes his first appearance so far and talks about the iconic piece that Gabrielle Chanel invented and Lagerfeld himself reinvented from the 80′s until today. JÁ TÍNHAMOS saudades da série “Inside Chanel”, não tínhamos? Estava na altura de publicarem o quarto capítulo (de não-sabemos-quantos) e desta vez chamaram-lhe simplesmente “The Jacket” [O Casaco]. Karl Lagerfeld aparece pela primeira vez e fala acerca da peça icónica criada por Gabrielle Chanel e recriada por ele desde os anos 80 até hoje. FW13 – Best Of Catwalks – PARIS

PARIS WAS a bit of a letdown, I must say. Loved Lanvin’s giant insects but the collection looked bland to me, Givenchy’s hair was brilliant but the garments didn’t quite match it, Slimane’s grungified Saint Laurent was sad – he won me on dropping out the “Yves” but now… it was just too much of him and too little of the fashion house. Thank god Marc Jacobs gave us a beautiful show to make for all this, and a couple more did too, as you’ll see after the jump.

PARIS FOI uma pequena desilusão, devo dizer. Adorei os insectos gigantes da Lanvin, mas a colecção pareceu-me desinteressante, o cabelo da Givenchy foi brilhante mas as peças não estiveram à sua altura, a Saint Laurent “grunge-ificada” de Slimane foi triste – dei o braço a torcer quando ele decidiu tirar o Saint, mas desta vez foi simplesmente demasiado dele e muito pouco da casa. Felizmente Marc Jacobs apresentou um desfile fabuloso para compensar tudo isto, e alguns outros também, como podem ver aqui.

FW13 – Best Of Street Style – PARIS

HERE’S THE BEST of Paris Fashion Week street style (according to myself). It looks like many of these show goers decided to fight the cold with bold and happy colours. Others went for the classics blacks and whites, especially now that those two have risen to stardom. Since I’m kind of obsessed with comfort, it makes for an excellent catalogue of cool overcoats as well. See for yourselves, click Read More. ;)

AQUI ESTÁ o melhor do street style da Paris Fashion Week (na minha perspectiva). Parece que alguns destes “show-goers” decidiram fazer frente ao frio com muita cor, outros optaram pelos clássicos pretos e brancos, ainda mais numa estação em que este par foi elevado ao estrelato. Como sou obcecada por conforto, também vejo aqui um excelente catálogo de sobretudos giros. Espreitem este desfile público, é só clicar em Read More.

FW13 – Best Of Catwalks – LONDON

LONDON CATWALKS have a very special identity to them, which is the mix of identities. Like the city it happens in, London Fashion Week gathers influences from all over the world in a rich and inspiring set of creations that usually amazes me more than any other. This year was no exception, here are some of my favorites.

Como a cidade em que acontece. a London Fashion Week reúne influências de todo o mundo num conjunto de criações ricas e inspiradoras que tende a fascinar-me quase sempre mais do que qualquer outra. este ano não foi excepção, estas são algumas das minhas favoritas.

AS YOU MAY know, if you follow Eva Maria on Facebook (click here when in doubt!) Lisbon Fashion Week is over. Oooooh…! Yup, it was a good long weekend running around town trying to get all things done and still get to see some of the shows (not as many as I wished though) and I’m looking forward to talk about that and my absolute favourite (!!!) BUT meanwhile we have a schedule to follow here, remember? So, I’m giving you my edit of the best of the best of “the big four” fashion weeks, and after New York Street Style (click) and Catwalks (click), it’s time for a bit of time travelling to London. DEPOIS DE UM fim-de-semana comprido e muito bom, em correria constante cidade fora para conseguir ver alguns dos desfiles (não tantos como gostaria) e cumprir todos os outros afazeres, a nossa Moda Lisboa terminou. Oooooh…! Pois é, mas apesar de estar mortinha por vos falar sobre isso (incluindo sobre o meu favorito surpreendente), por aqui temos um calendário a cumprir, lembram-se? Todos os dias partilho a minha edição do melhor do melhor das quatro grandes fashion weeks, e depois do melhor do Street Style e das Colecções de Nova Iorque, é tempo de fazermos uma viagem no tempo a Londres. Falamos no fim, mas ou muito me engano ou esta é a “leva” de street stylers com mais pinta. Ora espreitem. ;)

WHILE WE immerse ourselves in our own Lisbon Fashion Week (of wich I’ll be talking about soon) during the next few days I’m going to share the best of the big ones – New York, London, Milan and Paris fashion weeks – both in terms of the collections presented and the street stylers roaming around the events. We start off with the freezing streets of New York Fashion Week, let the show begin!

Inside CHANEL – Chapter 3

CHANEL keeps feeding us bits of its history packed up in beautifully crafted films. This third chapter is about how Mademoiselle Chanel revolutionized the jewelry business in 1932 with her “couture perspective”, during the Great Depression. “Bijoux de Diamants” was her one and only high jewelry collection but it still sells and inspires today’s Chanel Fine Jewelry line. A CHANEL continua a dar-nos pedaços da sua história em pequenos videos incrivelmente bem produzidos. Este terceiro capítulo conta como a Mademoiselle Chanel revolucionou o negócio da joalharia em 1932 com a sua “visão de alta-costura”, em plena Grande Depressão. A much better 2013.

THIS IS GONNA BE BIG. Tomorrow morning we’ll be starting a whole new year. At the same time it will be exactly one year since this blogging adventure started. A lot has happened since the 1st of January 2012, mostly pretty good things despite the world falling apart. The blog has opened many doors, I learned a lot and permitted me to show the world a little bit of my perspective on this complex matter of fashion. It’s been a wonderful journey and it wouldn’t be anything without you stopping by, reading, commenting, sending emails or liking the links over on Facebook. After 365 days there’s still a lot to do and that’s just perfect because it will keep us going. To celebrate this moment I decided to look you in the eyes for the first time and do something really special, so I invited my father — a wonderful photographer — to shoot this year’s greetings, the first of many to come. I hope you like them as much as we did. :)

ESTE VAI SER EM GRANDE. Amanhã de manhã estaremos a começar um novo ano e ao mesmo tempo faz exactamente um ano desde que esta aventura de bloggar começou. Aconteceu muita coisa desde o primeiro de Janeiro de 2012 e apesar do mundo estar virado do avesso, no que toca ao blog foram quase todas muito boas. Abriram-se muitas portas, aprendi imenso e consegui mostrar ao mundo um bocadinho da minha perspectiva sobre a moda. Foi uma viagem muito boa e não teria sido nada sem todos vocês que param, lêem, comentam, enviam emails e fazem likes nos links do Facebook. Depois de 365 dias ainda há muito para fazer e isso é maravilhoso porque me faz continuar. Por tudo isto decidi olhar-vos nos olhos pela primeira vez e fazer algo especial. Para isso convidei o meu pai – um fotógrafo fantástico com quem adoraria trabalhar mais vezes – para fotografar os votos deste ano, os primeiros de muitos que hão-de vir. Espero que gostem tanto como nós gostámos de os fazer. :)

Tassel Madness

I’VE ALWAYS BEEN fascinated by those tassels pending from the ropes that hold classic drapes. Since I was little, whenever we visited more traditional homes or noble spaces like palaces turned into museums, I loved to observe and feel those curious shapes, the soft threads, its purely accessory existence meant only to perpetuate some remote noble aesthetics. Well, I couldn’t me more pleased when they started to invade last season, each time more confident and fearless, and exploding in this Autumn/Winter collections like a true passementeries manual from the XIXth century. Desde pequena, sempre que visitavámos casas decoradas de forma mais clássica, ou espaços nobres como palácios-virados-museus ficava vidrada naquela forma curiosa, os fios macios, a existência em tudo acessória, a manter viva uma estética sabe-se lá de quando. Ora, não podia ter ficado mais satisfeita quando comecei a vê-las entrar pelas colecções adentro, cada vez menos tímidas, e a explodirem neste Outono/Inverno qual manual de passamanarias do séc. XIX.
