Ho-Ryon Lee’s overlapped sensuality

THEY LOOK LIKE  movie frames, these Ho-Ryon Lee’s paintings, and indeed he kind of produces a stop-motion film, superimposing several photos of the models to achieve the desired composition he’s going to paint. And the final paintings almost feel as if we were actually peeking those girls skirts. Beautifully disturbing. I’ve just blushed. ;)

PARECEM FRAMES DE UM FILME, estas pinturas de Ho-Ryon Lee, e na verdade ele quase produz uma animação em stop-motion, sobrepondo várias fotografias das modelos, até atingir a composição que deseja pintar. O resultado final é de uma beleza desarmante e dá-nos a sensação de que espreitamos realmente as saias daquelas meninas. Corei. ;)

Cole Haan X Nike

I TEND TO BE VERY SKEPTIC about reinventing the classics. For me, a tux is a tux (let’s say Ralph Lauren), a black stiletto is a black stiletto (let’s say Louboutin), a trench-coat is a trench-coat (let’s say Burberry), a pair of jeans is a pair of jeans (let’s say Levi’s), right? Of course there are other brands that make them, some of them even do it well and much cheaper, but these are still the references. I’m usually very strict about this matter but, as for everything in life, there are exceptions and this time New York’s Cole Haan got the best out of me. Because a full-brogue should be a full-brogue (let’s say Crockett & Jones) if it wasn’t for LunarGrands, a surprisingly balanced mix of a brogue’s top with Nike’s Lunarlon cushioning. And they did it for girls, too. Guess what? I love them.

EU TENDO A SER MUITO CÉPTICA quando o assunto é reinventar os clássicos. Para mim, um smoking é um smoking (digamos, Ralph Lauren), uns stilettos pretos são uns stilettos pretos (digamos, Louboutin), uma gabardine é uma gabardine (digamos, Burberry), uns jeans são uns jeans (digamos, Levi’s), certo? Haverá outras marcas que os fazem, até bem e mais barato, mas estes são as referências. Sou normalmente muito firme neste ponto, mas, como em tudo na vida, de vez em quando surgem excepções. Desta vez a marca Nova Iorquina Cole Haan ganhou. Porque um full-brogue seria um full-brogue (digamos, Crockett & Jones) se não fossem os LunarGrands, uma mistura surpreendentemente equilibrada entre a parte de cima de um brogue e a sola Lunarlon da Nike (isso mesmo, a dos ténis). E fizeram para meninas também. Eu admito, adoro.

I ♥ my Rouge In Love

IT’S BEEN A WHILE since I wanted to try this: take a picture of my lips and isolate them from the world, much inspired by this picture of Lindsey Wixson’s famous full lips (i’m sorry, über-full). Well, last week Lâncome and Perfumes & Companhia decided to offer every customer the personalization of Rouge In Love lipsticks and I couldn’t resist having mine. With my all new Rouge In Love I had to give it a go, and here it is! Now i’m just dying to do it with other lipsticks and improve the technique! Any suggestions? See how cool the personalization looks, after the jump. ;)

JÁ HÁ ALGUM TEMPO que andava mortinha por fazer esta experiência: tirar uma foto à minha boca e isolá-la do mundo, mais precisamente depois de ver esta foto da Lindsey Wixson e dos seus famosos lábios pulposos (desculpem, über-pulposos). Ora,esta semana, a Lâncome e a Perfumes & Companhia decidiram oferecer às suas clientes a personalização dos batons Rouge in Love e eu não consegui resistir a ir lá buscar o meu. Claro que aproveitei o mote para a dita experiência, e agora estou novamente mortinha por fazer isto com mais batons e aperfeiçoar a técnica! Alguém tem sugestões? Vejam como ficou a personalização do meu Rouge In Love, depois do salto. ;)

Backstage Peeks

BACKSTAGE PICTURES ALWAYS fascinate me. They give me the feeling of truly seeing the collection, the building up, the whole team around the models and the garments, the organization it implies, the thrill of watching it grow into a perfectly aligned queue of girls on the runway. I find the process magical, in almost any creation. And here, it’s beauty all around, in a non-scenic form, uncompromised, pure.

AS IMAGENS DE BASTIDORES fascinam-me. Dão-me a sensação de ver realmente a colecção, a construção, a equipa toda em redor das modelos e das peças de roupa, a organização que implica, a excitação de ver todo o esforço culminar numa fila de raparigas alinhadas na passerelle. O processo é mágico, em qualquer criação. E aqui, é beleza em toda a parte, numa forma não-cénica, descomprometida, natural.

Anna Dello Russo X H&M

FRESH NEWS: Vogue Nippon‘s Fashion Director & Über fashion victim Anna Dello Russo will launch a line of accessories for H&M that will hit selected stores this October. There’s not much to say yet, since the Swedish retailer has only released this picture and a video of ADR walking around her several-rooms-closet talking more about her more than the actual collab. Despite that, It is worth seeing, if not for the clear presentation of the pieces she designed at least for Miss Dello Russo’s intense character and extravaganza, which is always quite entertaining.

NOTÍCIAS FRESCAS: A Directora de Moda da Vogue Japão & Über fashion victim Anna Dello Russo vai lançar uma linha de acessórios para a H&M que chegará às lojas em Outubro. Ainda não há muito para dizer, já que o gigante Sueco divulgou apenas uma foto-teaser e um video da ADR a deambular pelo seu closet multi-divisões enquanto fala mais de si do que da parceria. Apesar disso, mesmo não sendo pela clareza de apresentação das peças que desenhou. vale a pena ver o video pela personalidade intensa e extravagante da senhora Dello Russo, que é sempre bom entretenimento.

REMEMBER ME drooling over this Proenza Schouler satchel on Facebook, a couple of weeks ago? Well, as the old saying goes “make do with what you have” so I did just that and grabbed this River Island satchel for… fifty times less. Mission accomplished. :)

I’VE RECENTLY COME ACROSS these treasures: two lingerie catalogues from the 70′s that couldn’t be more different. One is a 1976 Bloomingdale’s insert of The New York Times photographed by the great Guy Bourdin, the other is a 1979 Victoria’s Secret catalogue that totally blows away Bourdain’s fresh approach much like bad erotica playing cards would.

ENCONTREI ESTES TESOUROS recentemente: dois catálogos de lingerie dos anos 70 que não podiam ser mais diferentes. Um é um encarte da Bloomingdale’s no The New York Times de 1976, fotografado pelo enorme Guy Bourdin, o outro um catálogo Victoria’s Secret que deita por terra a abordagem de Bourdain numa estética parecida com a daqueles baralhos de cartas eróticas antigos.

Proenza Schouler – Camera Case

I AM USUALLY a great fan of Proenza Schouler’s collections, but actually this last one – Spring 2012 – didn’t blow me away. There was something that blew me away, though: their vintage-inspired leather Camera Case. Ain’t that a beauty? I wouldn’t know which color to choose (if only it wasn’t sold out! Ahah.) but I guess I’d go for the orange one that reminds me of those original oldies my father had. Now, even if the impossible happened – me getting my hands on this baby -  I’d still be lacking one thing: that’s right, the camera. Sniff.

COSTUMO SER grande apreciadora das colecções Proenza Schouler, mas a verdade é que esta última Primavera 2012 não me deixou muito impressionada. Houve, no entanto, uma peça do desfile que me maravilhou: a bolsa de pele para câmara fotográfica de inspiração vintage. Não é absolutamente maravilhosa? Não sei qual das cores escolheria (se ao menos não estivesse esgotada! Ahah.) mas talvez optasse pela cor-de-laranja que me faz lembrar as velhinhas originais que o meu pai tinha. O problema é que, mesmo que o impossível acontecesse – eu meter as mãos nesta beleza – continuaria a faltar-me uma coisa: exacto, a câmara. Sniff.

Inauguração Cidadela de Cascais

LAST THURSDAY NIGHT the new Cidadela de Cascais was inaugurated. I didn’t quite knew what to expect, mainly because I was having a crazy week and all of a sudden it was Thursday and I was already there, bringing my boyfriend and my mom, who was in town for the weekend. So, it was literally getting there and asking: What’s happening around here? Well, there was a lot going on and the night turned out to be a pretty good one.

Cidadela is a small square surrounded by ancient walls where we can find the new historic luxury hotel Pousada de Cascais, the restaurant Taberna da Praça, some boutiques and the Bar/Disco CC Club.

NA PASSADA QUINTA-FEIRA foi a inauguração da Cidadela de Cascais. Não sabia muito bem o que ia encontrar, simplesmente porque tive uma semana de loucos e de repente era quinta à noite e já lá estava, levando de arrasto namorado e mãe, que estava de visita. Assim sendo, foi literalmente chegar e perguntar: O que se passa aqui? Ora, passavam-se imensas coisas e a noite revelou-se uma belíssima noite.

O espaço desta Cidadela é uma pequena praça delimitada por antigas muralhas onde encontramos a novíssima Pousada de Cascais, o restaurante Taberna da Praça, algumas lojas, e o Bar/Discoteca CC Club.
